SECTION 16 - DESIGN IT YOURSELF (DIY)

SUMMARY

​

Well... now's your chance! Do you want to make a video? sure! Do you want to do a fashion shoot? You got it! For this project, you can do one of the numerous projects we've done since the beginning of the year. All you need is to have a plan. Take a moment to think about what you want to do and be creative! You will need to develop a plan of action and what materials/resources you need to execute it. Fill out the document below, and once it's approved, go for it!

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. **DO THIS FIRST** - Download the form on your right called the "DIY Approval Form" and fill out the required information. 

  2. Questions to ask yourself

    1. How much time do you need to complete it?​

    2. Will you need to reserve a sound, video, or photo studio?

    3. What equipment will you need?

    4. What props, items, or accessories will you need?

    5. Do you need someone's help? an actor, model, voice-over?

    6. How many other students will be working on the same project? How will that affect you getting yours done?

  3. Fill out the document as thoroughly as possible! More detail and planning will help your project become a success!

  4. DO NOT begin your project until your instructor approves it!

PART TWO - CREATE YOUR PROJECT

INSTRUCTIONS​​

Your final project should meet the requirements of previous projects done in the program. Depending on your choice, go to the project page that matches it for specifications.

 

Follow the guidelines below for submitting your final project

​

  • Video Editing - 2-minute video

    • ​Parody video, movie trailer, Foley sounds, exploration topic

  • Video Creation - Please see the instructor

    • ​Recording interviews, skits, commercials, short film

  • Photography - Contact Sheets and Collage 

    • ​Portraits, products, class programs, etc. using lighting (strobe, RGB lights, high/low key)

  • Photoshop - 11"X17" @150DPI

    • ​Design project, poster, restorations, animation, themed collage (texture, color, fashion)

  • Sound Production - 2 minutes

    • ​Foley sound, Podcast, spoken word, story narration, character voices

  • Music Production - 2 minutes

    • ​Beats, original song, mashup, background music for video

  • Website Design - 5 pages

    • ​Storefront, information site about a topic, tribute page, promotional site

PROGRAM TASKS COVERED

 

Student Goal

Students will take what they've learned since the beginning of the school year to create a project of their own creation that meets the expectations of the industry. This will also be expected to be a piece of their portfolio.

Conduct research to choose your DIY project. Fill out the submission approval form to understand what materials, equipment, and assistance you will need to complete the project.

210 Principles of design (balance, emphasis, unity, alignment, repetition, motion, etc.).

704 Use critical thinking skills to plan and conduct research, manage projects, solve problems, and make informed decisions using appropriate digital tools and resources collaboratively. 

705 Determine strategies for success in multimedia projects.
